Warriors Athletics

Grace Baptist Academy participates in the New Mexico Christian Athletic Association (NMCAA) in girls' volleyball and in both boys' and girls' basketball.  Our flag football team competes in the Southwestern Christian Athletic Association (SWCCA).

2017 Basketball Champions!

We congratulate our2016-17 basketball teams upon their successful seasons.   Although they lost to Immanuel Mission during the regular season, our Lady Warriors defeated Immanuel 32-31 in the semi-final game of their double-elimination tournament to enter the championship game, where they again defeated Immanuel 34-32 to claim the NMCAA state championship.

 

Baylie Stotts, Savannah Cook, and Libby Allen were named to the all-tournament team, and Libby Allen received honors as the tournament’s MVP!

  

Congratulations, GBA Lady Warriors, on your successful season!

Our boy's team finished their tournament in fourth place.  Congratulation to Matthew Malone who was GBA's selection to the All-Tournament team.

 

2016 Volleyball Champions!

We congratulate our 2016 fall sports teams.  Our girls’ volleyball and boys’ flag football teams (both varsity and JV) attended their respective tournaments in Albuquerque.  All teams played well and enjoyed considerable success.

 

Our volleyball team defeated Calvary Christian Academy in the championship game!    Samantha Dye, Savannah Cook, and Libby Allen were named to the all-tournament team, and Libby Allen received honors as the tournament’s MVP!

2016 Football Champions!

We congratulate our 2016 JV boys' flag-football who went undefeated through their tournament, eventually defeating Paradise in the championship game to claim the 2016 JV championship.

We congratulate our 2016 fall sports teams.  Our boys' flag-football went undefeated through the tournament before falling in the championship game against Paradise.

2015 Volleyball Champions!

We congratulate our 2016 fall sports teams.  Our girls’ volleyball and boys’ flag football teams (both varsity and JV) attended their respective tournaments in Albuquerque.  All teams played well and enjoyed considerable success.

 

Our volleyball team first defeated Calvary Christian Academy before losing to Paradise on Friday in their double-elimination tournament.  On Saturday, they fought back by defeating Immanuel Mission and then faced Paradise in the championship game, eventually defeating Paradise three games to none to claim the championship!    Samantha Dye, Kate Malone, and Libby Allen were named to the all-tournament team, and Libby Allen received honors as the tournament’s MVP!

 

More importantly, our Lady Warriors were chosen by the other coaches and referees as the recipients of the Christian Character Award!  We are pleased that our young ladies are excellent examples of Christian character as they play.  Thank you, Mrs. Jen Gottschall and Mrs. Tracey Allen for the work you have invested into our ladies this season.

Our JV flag football team opened their tournament against Legacy Academy of Albuquerque, suffering a close defeat.  They game back to defeat College Heights and Calvary Chapel to claim the consolation championship.  Luke Malone and Ethan Doering were named to the tournament all-star team.

 

The varsity flag football team opened with a convincing win against Graceway before suffering a one-point loss to Rio Grande.  They came back to defeat College Heights before falling to Paradise, giving our Warriors a third-place finish in the double-elimination tournament.  Isaac Begaye and Matthew Malone were selected to the varsity all-star team.  Thank you, Coach Gottschall and Josh Gibbs for your work with our young men.

 

 

Special thanks go to Pastor Mauldin, who serves as the commissioner of our athletic league – the New Mexico Christian Athletic Association - for volleyball and basketball (flag football is a separate group of schools from those in the NMCAA).  Pastor Mauldin puts many hours into keeping the league and tournaments running smoothly. 

 

2014 Flag Football Champions!

We congratulate the 2014 Warriors flag football team on their excellent season and successful defense of their SWCAA championship title!

The Warriors won easily in the first round of the league tournament before pulling out an over-time win against Rio Grande in the second round.  The Warriors then defeated a tough Gospel Light team to make it to the championship game, where they again defeated Gospel Light, who had worked back through the losers' bracket, by a score of 26-8 to claim the championship.

Congratulations to Justin Allen, Jeffrey Jaeger, Jr., and Matthew Malone who were selected to the SWCAA All-Star team.


2014 Volleyball State Runners-up!

The Lady Warriors' volleyball team entered the state tournament as the second-seed.  In the first round, they defeated Paradise Christian before falling to the league-leading Immanuel Mission Falcons.  The Lady Warriors again defeated Paradise Christian to return to the championship match.  Although they Lady Warriors fought hard and well, they fell 22-25, 23-25, and 13-25, finishing in second place for the season.

Congratulations to Jessica DeVita and Libby Allen who were selected to the NMCAA all-tournament team.

 

 

 

Warriors Enjoy Winter-Sports Success

 

 Both our girls' and boys' basketball enjoyed successful seasons during the 2013-14 NMCAA winter season.

 

The Lady Warriors claimed second-place finishes in both the regular season and the state tournament.  Liberty Allen Samantha Dye, and Linda Peralta were selected to the All-Tournament team.

 

After finishing third during the regular season, the men's team also brough home a second-place finish in the state tournament after falling short to College Heights in the championship game.  Justin Allen and Kaleb Twilley were named to the men's All-Tournament team.

 

 

 

 

Warriors Claim Fall Sports Championships

 

Lady Warriors Win Volleyball Championship

The Lady Warrios again brought home the NMCAA (New Mexico Christian Athletic Association) state championship, winning their fourth tournament in the past five years.

 

The Lady Warriors defeated Paradise in the first round before falling to Immanuel Mission in the double-elimination tournament.  After again defeating Paradise to advance to the championship round, the Lady Warriors fell behind 0-2 to Immanuel in the five-game match, then rallied to defeat Immanuel in the final three games and claim the championship.

 

Liberty Allen was named the tournament MVP.  Kristiann Corley, Samantha Dye, Isabelle Peralta, and Linda Peralta received selections to the All-State squad.

 

 

 

Warriors Win Championship

The men's flag football went undefeated through the SWCAA (Southwestern Christian Athletic Association) league tournament to claim the 2013 Championship.

 

Justin Allen, Jeffrey Jaeger Jr, Matthew Malone, Kaleb Twilley were named to the All-Star squad.
